Glyton Da Matta Ph.D.

Founder, C.E.O. of International Youth Olympic Sport Academy

Dr. Gylton Da Matta is an international volleyball consultant. Dr. Da Matta has taught at Colorado State University and coaches the Men’s Club team. Currently, he does online consulting for players, coaches and parents from the Brazilian, Canadian, Danish, Argentine Volleyball Federation and the USA High Performance Volleyball. Since 1986 he has coached volleyball at all levels. In 2005, he coached the USAVb women’s volleyball National Championship team at the Open Division. He has presented at dozens of volleyball camps, clinics, and workshops nation wide and internationally as well. Former Head Volleyball Coach for Newberry College and Appalachian State University, Dr. Da Matta is a three-time Brazilian National Champion as a setter and team captain of the U20 Olympic Club, in Brazil.

Patrick Padden

Sport Instructor

Patrick Padden is passionate volleyball players, has been participating in multiple Fort Collins leagues for 3 years, and intramural teams for 4 years. In 2004 and 2005, Padden contributed at Japan semi-competitive team while studying abroad in Japan. From years of being an athelete from various sports, he has lots of experience organizing, leading, and managing teams of people ranging from organizing a residential summer camp for kids and teens, to managing an organic production garden for five years and coordinating our internship program. At this moment, he is coaching at Middle and High School in Northern Colorado.

Anil Dervisevic

Volleyball Instructor

Coach Dervisevic was born in former Yugoslavia (now Bosnia-Herzegovina). Walking in the footsteps of his father, who was the Head Coach of the National Volleyball Team, Dervisevic brings his experience from one of the best schools in the world. At age 16, he played for the Junior National Team. He became a professional volleyball player by the age of 18 and remained so far 9 years. Coach Anil played professionally in Serbia and Germany. For the last two years of his career, he played for the Bosnian National Team. As following with an injury, he became assistant coach to the National Team for 4 years and specialized in sports conditioning. While in Germany, he also led a very successful girls volleyball school, bringing them from Regionals to Nationals in just 4 years.

Alan Dervisevic

Alan Dervisevic's first contact with volleyball came through his father, who was a professional player and coach for over 50 years. Dervisevic started to play at 11 years of age and at age of 14 started to play for the junior team of VC Jedinstvo for 4 years, which is where I started to develop my volleyball career. he played from 1986 till 1991 for University of Tuzla’s volleyball team in the first Bosnian division; where from 1987 he was coach/player. When war started in Yugoslavia in 1991, Dervisevic moved to Germany, where he started to play and coach from 1993 till 1999. In August 1999, Dervisevic moved to Denver. From October 2000 till March 2001, he coached Denver University’s girls and boys intramural team.

International Coaches

Baco Dervisevic

 

Professor Dervisevic was born in former Yugoslavia and has been dedicated to the field of Volleyball for 52 years. Graduating from the Zagreb University of Sports, with a degree in Sports Education and a specialization in Volleyball, Dervisevic has been a player, a coach and executive coach throughout his lifetime, such as placed twice in the National Champions of Yugoslavia, captain of Yugoslavian National Volleyball Team for 2 years, Head Coach of OK”Jedinstvo”Brcko (National 1st League) for 23 years and others. After, he became Head Coach for the Yugoslavian National Volleyball Team and during his 4 years, led them twice to the European Volleyball Championships. Dervisevic developed the young volleyball players to expand to other professional leagues, including the Yugoslavian National Volleyball Team and Junior National Team of Yugoslavia (now Serbia, which still holds the #1 ranking in the world).

 

In 1972 he was proclaimed Best Coach of All Sport in Yugoslavia.  He was inducted into the Hall of Fame by The Volleyball Federation of Yugoslavia, The Volleyball Federation of Bosnia Herzegovina, and even more prized, he was given the Presidential Medal of Honor by President Tito for being the Most Successful Coach in all of Yugoslavia.

 

Given world recognition, Dervisevic has brought offers to be Head Coach for Barcelona, Spain and Galatasaray, Turkey. Ghana has asked him to lead their National Volleyball Team, but all offers he turned down, due to a loyalty to his own country.

 

In addition to his professional accolades, the Yugoslavian Volleyball Federation asked him to lead the coaches camp for Licensing and Certification as Head Coach and many former students of his have also become coaches themselves, now working all over the world, from Germany, Qatar, Italy and beyond!
